Crusty Village

I was walking through Tompkins Square Park this past Saturday, when I noticed something unusual: the crusties that had been camped out under the large tree in the southwest corner of the grassy area:

… had moved to the middle of the grassy area:

They haven't abandoned their corner completely, though. The very next day, I saw they had hung up some laundry to dry on the fence:

Where do they wash their clothes, I wonder?

Local Blog Commenter

One of the benefits of not being a news blog is that I do not have to report on things in a timely fashion!

One such "thing" is the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade — I'm still going through my photos!

In the meantime, I have some peripherally-related videos!

Way back around October 19, I wrote: "I think it's safe to say that not one sane person dislikes the dog parade…!" Still, the dog parade is such a strong draw that even those people attended!

Witness:

He would only identify himself as a "local blog commenter"!

Not this blog though — my commenter is nice!

Dogs And Punk Rock

Punk rock might be the music of choice for aging East Villagers, but not for dogs!

This is a picture of the Tompkins Square Park dog run during yesterday's Memorial Day Punk Rock Extravaganza:

Scientists have shown that dogs are partial to what you might call "dog music".

So the next time you think to play "I Wanna Be Your Dog" for little Poochie, remember this cautionary tale… from the East Village Today!
