A Gaggle of Shoppers

I was walking across St. Mark's Place the other day, when I saw this gaggle of shoppers, outside the beloved Search & Destroy, waiting to go inside and shop:

A gaggle of shoppers.

People come from all over the world to shop at this store. It's famous!

The wares are on the shelves, all's right with… the East Village Today!

Shopping in the East Village

Shop till you drop!
I live to shop!
I shop, therefore I am!

People come from all over the city — nay, from all over the globe! — to shop in the East Village. Nowhere else can you find such cool things to buy as here.

These shoppers were walking down St. Mark's Place this past Sunday when they had to stop and take a break on the stairs of Search & Destroy, the retro-punk memorabilia store:

Shoppers taking a break.

I guess these are not the "shop till you drop" type, though, more the "shop till you rest" type!

I wonder if they saw that "Please Do Not Sit On The Steps" sign?

Do Not Sit on the Steps

I was walking down St. Mark's Place today, when I had the memory of being here just before Christmas, taking a picture of the Search & Destroy Santa.

Today, I was just taking a picture of the steps:

Search & Destroy steps.

They look very inviting, like they'd be very comfortable to sit on.

Attention!

So, no sitting on these steps, you purveyors of punk rock memorabilia!

Oh yes, one more thing:

Caution: No Picture.

Well now you tell me!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Walking around the East Village yesterday, the one thing I noticed above all else was that East Villagers were busy getting ready for Christmas!

Bringing home the tree (East 10th Street at Second Avenue):

Stringing lights on a table, on First Avenue:

On St. Mark's Place, Bull McCabe's had their tree out, with lights:

Across the street, Red & Gold Boil had a tree and the Bumble!:

Bumbles bounce!

Even Search and Destroy is getting into the act, with dual Santa Clauses!:

I don't want a holiday in the sun. Ho Ho Ho!

Stay tuned for more East Village Christmas pictures!
