Anarchist Conclave

I neglected to mention, on the same day as the April 29 punk rock concert in Tompkins Square Park, a group of anarchists met on the opposite side of the grassy area from the stage. This is where the masked fellow came from, mentioned in the previous post.

I'm not sure they did anything other than eat and sit around. They had a lot of banners:

A lot of banners.

Here are some more banners:

More banners.

Of course, the banners could only be read from their side of the fence — from the outside, it looked like they were being exclusive!

Grand Opening

Back in July of 2017, this space that was once the beloved Village Gifts (below) was occupied by crusties and a guitar top!

This past weekend, not only was it devoid of both the above, but it now housed some newly-beloved food place:

Newly-beloved food place.

I didn't feel like ducking beneath the Grand Opening banner to see what the place was called, or what kind of food they served, but I can tell you this: they have a moped for speedy deliveries!

Dancing Emma

I was walking across East 7th Street yesterday, when I saw this banner of one-time East Villager Emma Goldman:

Banner of Emma Goldman.

Emma Goldman is famous for having said "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution."

Looking at that face, though, I'm prone to thinking that people didn't want her to dance because she was so sullen! Can you imagine her on the dance floor, glaring at the band?!

When I got to the end of East 7th Street, at The Bowery, I saw another banner, this time of Che Guevara:

Banner of Che Guevara.

Che Guevara now, I bet he could dance until dawn — even with his asthma!

Einstein On A Bike

Not much has happened at the formerly-beloved East Village Bikes since they closed last month.

Until now!

I was walking down Avenue C last night, when I saw that the riot gates were up, revealing a couple of Einstein banners covering the windows:

Covering the windows.

It's fitting that he's riding a bike! You know, with this place having been a bike store, and all.

Here is a close-up:

And another:

Another.

I just thought of something: What if there's a riot? Those Einstein banners aren't going to be any help!
