2014 LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival Revisited

More old pictures.

These were taken inside El Jardin de Paraiso on September 20, during the 2014 LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival, the day before the People's Climate March.

In the morning, on the East 4th Street side of the garden, sponsored by the Free University, was a talk titled "Decolonizing Climate Justice":

East Villagers having class outside!

At the same time, on the 5th Street side of the garden, were these… I'm not sure what they were. Paintings? Illustrations? Backdrops of some sort.

Backdrops.

A closer view:

I already posted pictures of the Bread and Puppet Theater's performance. This was their bus parked on East 4th Street:

Another view of some of their puppets:

Exx and On.

A good time was had by all!

Backstage Seating

Last Saturday, the Bread and Puppet Theater performed in El Jardin de Paraiso, on East 4th Street, as part of the LUNGS Harvest Arts Festival and as part of the People's Climate March:

Bread and Puppet Theater at El Jardin de Paraiso.

I don't know if you noticed, but sitting behind and to the right of the center puppet (as you look at them) is a woman who doesn't seem to notice that there's a performance going on around her.

"Down in front!"

Soon, she started texting:

"I have landed on a strange planet…"

It never occurred to her to move:

East Villagers are renegades!

2014 Harvest Arts Festival

I saw this collection of posters on the fence at El Jardin de Paraiso:

LUNGS is Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens. For the past two years, they've sponsored the Harvest Arts Festival, bringing art and dance to the gardens of the East Village.

From the LUNGS web site:
This year, the Harvest Arts Festival is taking place on Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21.
The gardens will host performances and workshops in music, dance, theater, spoken word, the arts, and more.
This year the Festival coincides with the People’s Climate March. In support of the People’s Climate March, many gardens will host workshops and teach-ins on a wide range of environmental issues.
On Sunday, gardeners and friends join the People’s Climate March en masse.
