The Final Days of Trash & Vaudeville?

Late Summer is the time for taking a look at the state of some of the stores that East Villagers belove so much.

One such store is the beloved Trash & Vaudeville, on East 7th Street:

Trash & Vaudeville.

I can't bring myself to go inside this store. Whenever I pass by, they are empty, and I don't want to raise hopes that I'm going to buy something, when I only want to take pictures of the empty store.

I predict that very soon this store will close, and since most of the merchandise will be shipped off to sunny San Diego to be sold online, the only thing available for the Going Out of Business Sale will be what no one wants, like when St. Mark's Bookshop closed.

Of course, they could expand their inventory to include newer fashions!

Sale Over

The Great 50%-Off Sale at the beloved St. Mark's Bookshop, on East 3rd Street, is now finished. Yesterday was their last day open.

Sale signs.

East Villagers didn't really care for the books sold at St. Mark's Bookshop, that's why the discount was not increased to, oh, say, 90% — I don't think they could have given these books away!

Unsold books, on the last day.

Hopefully, once they're gone, this space will be occupied by something more popular:

16 Handles!

Sales Galore

East Villagers love to shop, and they love to save money!

At the beloved St. Mark's Bookshop, on East 3rd Street, everything is 50% off:

50% off.

(Aside: Take a look at the "A" in "Clearance", above. That is not the same font as the other letters in that word. What's up with that?!)

Oddly enough, even at 50% off, they're not selling many books:

Lots of books still on the shelves.

If books are not your thing, and hats are, you're in luck — there's a great sale at the beloved Pork Pie Hatters, on East 9th Street:

Another great sale.

There's never been a better time to live… in the East Village Today!

Crazy Sign

I was walking down Third Avenue a few weeks ago (I have so many pictures I haven't posted yet!), when I saw this crazy sign taped onto the window of the former location of the beloved St. Mark's Bookshop:

Crazy sign.

"Who's going to take the time to read this?" I thought to myself.

"No one!" I replied.

So for the sake of all of you who did not have time to read this, I did it for you. You didn't miss anything!

Except this:

Non-filled-in "e"s.

Poor letterforms… in the East Village Today!
