Good, Better, Best

It seems so long ago, the Citibike station outside the beloved Slate Salon, the beloved Today's Cut, and the beloved Yuca Bar was removed — and in fact it was! A long time, that is.

The good news is, some days ago, the station returned!

Returned station.

East Villagers love Citibikes so much, they sit on them even when they're not riding!

Even better news than the return of this station, is the return of all stations that were removed during "Grinding Existing Asphaltic Concrete Wearing Course Project HW2CR16B"!

Returned stations marked in green.

And the best news is that we get to keep the station beside the graveyard (marked in Purple)!

How do you unlock a Citibike from the graveyard station? With a skeleton key!

Citibike Station Missing

East Villagers were in for a rude awakening when they woke up November 1 to find that not only were their clocks moved back one hour, but the Citibike station, lovingly known as Bike Station 5626.07, at the corner of Avenue A and East 7th Street, outside the beloved Yuca Bar, was missing:

Citibike station 5626.07, missing.

This story might have ended sadly-enough there, but yesterday, I, while biking from the beloved Porto Rico Importing Company to the beloved Key Food, forgot that this station was missing, and had to park at another station!

Colorful Citibikes

Recently, East Villagers have been treated to a whole panoply of colorful Citibikes, like these seen outside the beloved Yuca Bar on East 7th Street and Avenue A:

New Citibike Stanchions

East Villagers were very excited recently to find a new type of stanchion installed in local Citibike stations!

The new stanchion is different from the old in two important ways: 1) the key is inserted horizontally, instead of vertically; and 2) when the bike is released, it rolls back slightly, eliminating the necessity of having to release it by lifting the seat up and back!

Here is a picture of the new stanchion, outside the beloved Yuca Bar on East 7th Street:

Very Large Array of Citibikes

I was walking down East 7th Street this past Wednesday evening (literally, as you'll see!), when I saw this very large array of Citibikes outside the beloved Yuca Bar:

If only parking a car were this easy!
