Cone Moot

I was walking across East 9th Street this morning, looking for my favorite pickup truck, when I saw this:

An assembly of cones.

I'm not sure why there's yellow caution tape around the cones. There must have been something to be cautious of. Maybe they removed a lamppost, or maybe they're installing one, or maybe they're replacing one. Who can say?

Christmas Pizza

This morning, I was walking up First Avenue when I passed East Village Pizza & Kebabs on the corner of East 9th Street:

The corner column is painted as the Leaning Tower of Pizza with the colors of the Italian flag, two of which are Christmas colors! The windows are decorated with a Santa Claus, an elf, a wreath, a garland, and other Christmasy things that you can't see because of the reflections in the windows.

With only twenty days left before Christmas, East Villagers will be manic in their efforts to decorate — be careful you don't get strung with lights when you're out walking!

Maintaining the East Village

Have you ever seen parts of the East Village that are just desolate? I don't mean dilapidated, I mean just empty and stark. These places don't just get that way on their own — it takes hard work to create and maintain that look.

Tonight on Avenue C, workers were busy maintaining the battered appearance of a building's cellar doors, just above East 3rd street:

Bikers on First Avenue

Currently, there's construction work being done on First Avenue at East 1st Street.

I took this picture this morning, as bikers made their way up and around the construction materials:

Bikers love to ride around the bike lane when there's construction work being done on it… in the East Village!

East Villagers love to decorate for Christmas. The local Dallas BBQ restaurant on Second Avenue and St. Mark's Place decorated the awning and tree in front of the restaurant:

Christmas in the East Village

It's Christmastime in the East Village! East Villagers love Christmas; there are more places to buy Christmas trees, Christmas wreaths, tree stands and such, than you can shake a stick at!

Tonight, I passed by this line of Christmas trees on Second Avenue, just below East 11th Street:

It's like a pine forest.

The smell of pine was everywhere — it was like a pine forest!

In the plaza outside St. Mark's church were these ginormous trees:

Christmas tree sellers will be around until December 24th, but it's better to get yours early, so you can have it longer!
