Pirate Love

East Villagers who think of pirates usually think of the Jolly Roger hanging in the window of the building overlooking the vacant lots on Second Avenue and East 7th Street.

However, pirate love is not exclusive to that location. Not long ago, as I passed by the beloved Grape And Grain, on East 6th Street…

On East 6th Street.

… I saw this chalkboard sign, announcing this event:

Pirate event.

Yar!

Pirate Humor

Second Avenue is becoming a virtual pirate's cove! First the Jolly Roger flying from no. 125, now this:

Pirate cartoon.

I don't get it.

East Village pirates are not known for their sense of humor!

Flag Separation

This was the weekend of updates!  It's the Weekend Update!

I was walking past 125 Second Avenue yesterday, when I saw that the pirate flag and U.S. flag outside the windows there are now separated:

Separated flags.

In my most recent picture of these flags, they were together — now they're apart. I understand that it's bad etiquette to allow any other flag to touch a pirate flag!

Following the pirate code… in the East Village Today! Argh!

Pirate Window Update

There's been another major change at the Second Avenue Pirate Window: colored seltzer bottles on the window sill:

Colored seltzer bottles.

It would seem that the pirate residing there is some kind of vaudevillian joker!

It's interesting to think that behind every building is another building housing someone just waiting for their big chance to shine… in the East Village Today!

Pirate Spotted

By now, many of you have seen the picture, posted here first(!), of the Jolly Roger flying outside 125 Second Avenue, the building that was damaged, but is still standing, after the fire that occurred here.

Well, I was walking up Second Avenue yesterday, when I spotted the pirate behind the flag. Literally!

Pirate behind flag.

If it's anarchist squatters who've taken up residence there, it's anarchist squatters in neckties!

East Villagers always keep you guessing!

The Jolly Roger on Second Avenue

Avast! I was walking up Second Avenue yesterday, when I came upon the site of the recent fire, and saw this:

The Jolly Roger.

Aye, me hearties, pirates have indeed taken over 125 Second Avenue — quite likely anarchist, squatter pirates!

Argh!
