Flag / No Flag

East Villagers love U.S. flags.

That explains why this motorcycle owner put a flag on his motorcycle, on East 6th Street:

Flag on motorcycle.

Of course, U.S. flags are so desirable that someone is likely to steal it:

No flag on motorcycle.

Is that what happened here? Or did it fall off because it wasn't secured properly?

Goldie S. Dreyfuss, At Your Service

When people think of the East Village, what is usually the first thing they think of? After coolness? And religious piety?

It's Certified Public Accountants with law degrees, right?!

The beloved Goldie S. Dreyfuss is one of these. Her office is on lower Avenue A:

Flag Separation

This was the weekend of updates!  It's the Weekend Update!

I was walking past 125 Second Avenue yesterday, when I saw that the pirate flag and U.S. flag outside the windows there are now separated:

Separated flags.

In my most recent picture of these flags, they were together — now they're apart. I understand that it's bad etiquette to allow any other flag to touch a pirate flag!

Nationalist Pirates

Somewhere between 17 and 19 days ago, I posted a picture of a large U.S.A. flag hanging in the window of 125 Second Avenue, the building beside those that were destroyed in the fire.

Not to be outdone, the pirate has now started flying his own U.S.A. flag:

Oh yes, the ace of spades is new too… in the East Village Today!

Balconies and Flags

East Villagers are often heard to say "If only that building [next to mine] wasn't there, I would…"

Well, at 125 Second Avenue, that sentence can now be completed:

Balconies and flags, now on display.

"If only that building wasn't there, I would build a balcony!"

"If only that building wasn't there, I would hang a flag in my window and show people how patriotic I am!"

Or…

"If only that building was still there, I wouldn't have to bring this mattress inside!"

It's always something… in the East Village Today!
