Space Can Be Combined
I was walking across East 9th Street last week, when I saw this sign in the window of the formerly-beloved The Upper Rust:

9th Street Block Party 2015
It seems like it was only yesterday that I was writing about the beloved East 9th Street Block Party, and yet it was a year ago! (Whoa! Deja vu!)
This past Saturday, the 9th Street Block Party was in full swing again:
Do you remember Old Flat Top? From the early days of East Village Today?
Looks like somebody didn't get the memo!
Meg was hawking her wares again:
The beloved Superiority Burger was dishing up their famous Frito Pie (Fritos in the bag, some kind of chili stuff, and some kind of cheesy stuff. Trans-fats are vegan!):
The beloved The Upper Rust displayed their tassels on a tassel tree:
And East Villagers eagerly checked East Village Today for the latest updates:
Finally, the beloved 9th Street Block Party Band played while people… recorded their surroundings!
A good time was had by all… in the East Village Today!

What a Little Bit of Paint Can Do
I can't help but think that this blog has been instrumental in prompting people in the East Village to fix things up a bit!
I've pointed out a couple of examples. Here on East 9th Street is another:
Recently, this white area was the same color construction-site green as what borders it on either side. It might only be for the Christmas season, but the point is made nonetheless — paint works wonders… in the East Village!
