Introducing: Lego Lady

East Villagers are familiar with Lego Man, who first made an appearance in August, 2017.

Until now, however, there was no Lego Lady.

Until now:

Lego Lady and Lego Dog.

There's even a Lego Dog!

I wonder if there's ever going to be a Lego Baby?

Another Little Pink Head

Regular readers of East Village Today will be familiar with the sitings of little pink heads around the neighborhood!

Here's another, on East 7th Street near First Avenue:

Another little pink head.

That is one big-head baby!

You may recognize that this green mailbox is not where it belongs — it's against a building instead of by the curb — and it's not bolted into the sidewalk!

Moveable Mailbox Update

Back in late August, I wrote about the mailbox on the corner of East 4th Street and Avenue B, that was displaced by recently curb replacements.

I am happy to report that, as of this past Saturday, the mailbox is back where it belongs:

Where it belongs.

But for how long?!

Behold, the feet are not secured:

Unsecured feet.

All it will take is for some anarchist to notice this, and that mailbox will be on its side!

WTF Is This Update

It happened so quickly, if you'd have blinked, you'd have missed it!

I'm referring, of course, to the new LinkNYC kiosk on First Avenue and East 4th Street, beside the WTF Pac-Man mailbox.

Through it all, its expression never changed.

Two weeks ago, it was "Oh my God, what is this mess?!

This morning? Behold:

Oh my God, that thing is so cool!

Watch out, East Village — here comes the 21st century!

Moveable Mailbox

Have you ever wondered what to do with the mailbox when you're tearing up the sidewalk it's cemented into?

In the East Village, you put it smack dab in the middle of the sidewalk, like this one on East 4th Street:

Smack dab.

I have a feeling this won't be the last story on this moveable mailbox!

The Yeti, Up Close

Every bit as elusive as a real yeti, the yeti graffito is difficult to spot. That is, it's easy to spot when it's there, but it's rarely there!

Which is why this green mailbox, on the corner of Avenue B and East 7th Street, is so special:

Special mailbox.

You may think: That's not the yeti — the yeti has a body!" but I would bet anything that this is a close-up of the yeti.

A funny thing happened when I took this picture: A couple was walking by, and the fellow asked me where I was from. He said he wondered where someone was from who would take a picture of nothing.

I showed him the graffito, and explained the yeti — and he took a picture of it himself!

Making something out of nothing… in the East Village Today!

UPDATED MINUTES LATER

I just learned that this is called "Frank Ape". Who knew?!

Mystery Solved

If you've spent any time walking around the East Village, you've probably wondered: What's the deal with those green mailboxes?! Are they just olive-drab graffiti magnets?

Walking down Second Avenue this past Sunday, like Scooby-Doo, I solved the mystery:

Mystery is solved.

They're used to hold the items the letter carrier needs, like a cup of coffee!

This one got knocked over.
