The Misfits Liberty Bell

I was walking across East 7th Street this morning, when I saw this sticker of The Misfits insignia in the shape of the Liberty Bell:

Misfits Liberty Bell.

Philadelphia freedom!

The skull reminds me of Spacemen 3's "Dreamweapon: An Evening of Contemporary Sitar Music" CD.

The one above it reminds me of a time I got a fork stuck in my head.

Apart from that, nothing.

Probably Gone By Now

At the time I took this picture, back in early February, this addition to the graffiti wall on First Avenue was new.

By this time, it's probably already gone.

New, then.

Here today, gone tomorrow!

Maybe.

Probably.

Introducing: Lego Lady

East Villagers are familiar with Lego Man, who first made an appearance in August, 2017.

Until now, however, there was no Lego Lady.

Until now:

Lego Lady and Lego Dog.

There's even a Lego Dog!

I wonder if there's ever going to be a Lego Baby?

Dummytree

There's a new name in graffiti stickers in the East Village, and that name is Dummy Tree!

I was walking across East 6th Street back in late September, when I saw this sticker on the back of a construction sign:

Stockholm Symdrome.

Of all the syndromes, Stockholm is my favorite!

A little further down the block, I saw another green sticker fixed to this ATM hood:

Another green sticker.

Here is a close-up:

Lick that toad?! Gross!

East Village Today strongly advises our readers not to lick any toads!

Mailbox vs. Trash Can

In the days of Snapchat, very few East Villagers are left who remember mailboxes.

These days, they're seen as blank slates to paste over with graffiti stickers, such as this one, on Avenue A and East 7th Street:

Pasted over with graffiti stickers.

Solar-powered rat-proof trash cans, on the other hand, every East Villager knows that those are!

No graffiti stickers on those — they're well respected!

The Downward Trajectory Of IsThatPhoebe

I first discovered IsThatPhoebe on August 14, before I even knew the name!

I learned the name after my Lego Man post, in which her character could be seen.

At that time, IsThatPhoebe was sweet! Like this:

Sweet.

The first change came suddenly, without warning:

Misfits IsThatPhoebe.

The Misfits are a band from the bad old days, that sing about devils and evil!

The very next day, I saw this (Warning! NSFW!):

NSFW.

Life in the East Village can be hard. People should leave a comment for IsThatPhoebe in the Comments section, and cheer her up!

Lego Starbucks

I was walking past the new, beloved Starbucks on Avenue A and St. Mark's Place about nine days ago, when I saw this Lego Starbucks sticker attached to a lamppost:

Lego Starbucks sticker.

I wonder if the same person did this who's been doing the Lego Man stickers?!

Graffiti Stickers

Graffiti stickers are the new graffiti, that's for sure — everywhere you look in the East Village, you see them!

Here are a bunch of them, on the side of a mailbox on Avenue C:

I'm partial to lampshade-head guy!

Here is the mailbox in context:

If you have to a printer, especially one who does die-cutting, stickers are definitely the way to go!

Humen Bote

This morning, as I walked past the East 4th Street Lego Man again, something jumped out at me.

No, not a mugger! It was the very groovy skeleton graffiti sticker!

See it?

Here is a close-up:

Close-up.

My first thought was to write "Groovy Skeleton and IsThatPhoebe, sitting in a tree…", but then I found out something amazing: The groovy skeleton is done by an eight-year-old boy!

It's true! His father wheat-pastes them up around the city!

Thanks to JodoNYC, official graffitier of East Village Today,  for that information.

Watch Out, Lego Man!

I was walking down Avenue B a couple of weeks ago, when I saw Lego Man about to step into a hole:

Watch out, Lego Man!

Not just a hole, but a hole directly above cellar doors!

Last week, on East 4th Street, I saw him again:

Watch out, Lego Man!

Lego Man is here to warn us of the dangers of eating ice cream and walking — it's almost as dangerous as texting and walking!

Shredded Signs

By the looks of it, someone doesn't like signs taped onto this lamppost on St. Mark's Place:

Shredded signs.

It's hard to tell where the lamppost ends and the van begins!

Nipple Rain

I was walking across East 2nd Street yesterday afternoon, pondering the taco situation in the East Village, when I noticed this graffiti sticker beside this hole in the wall of this building:

Beside this hole.

Here is a close-up:

If I were the stickerer, I would have stuck the sticker over the hole, to hide it!
