Sidewalk Closed

East Villagers are familiar with sidewalk traffic being hampered by abandoned furniture, but it's not very common to see the sidewalk closed due to it!

That seemed to have been the case here on East 4th Street at Avenue D, oh, about eleven days ago:

Sidewalk closed.

It turns out that the sidewalk was closed because of construction!

I was walking up First Avenue last week, when I saw these two abandoned tables, in front of either some formerly- or currently-beloved establishment:

Abandoned Bed Frame

I was walking down Avenue D, over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, when I saw this abandoned bed frame beside a trash can, at the corner of East 4th Street:

Part of the bed frame even extends into the crosswalk!

I wonder if the Sanitation Department workers picked it up, or if some freegan got it first?!
