Drug User Kitsch

Back in the early 90s, gas masks were all the rage. The United States was bombarding Iraq for the first time, and CNN was bombarding the world with stories of possible gas attacks in retaliation.

Today, gas masks are part of drug-user kitsch, as seen in this picture, taken in a drug paraphernalia store on St. Mark's Place:

Gas mask drug paraphernalia.

East Villagers laugh in the face of poison gas attacks! "Ha!" they say. "All I need is my bong mask and my feather boa."
