Petrus Stuyvesant's Pear Tree

As you probably already know, East Villagers love trees — they're crazy about them! This is nothing new.

I was walking down Third Avenue recently, when I saw this plaque on the wall outside the beloved Kiehl's, dedicated to a tree:

Plaque.

Here is a close-up:

But what's that?!

Poorly placed quotation mark.

What a poorly-placed quotation mark!

There needs to be a Typesetting Society, that fixes other Society's bad plaques!

Christmas at Kiehl's

East Villagers love Christmas. The lights, the decorations — they can't get enough of it!

This is a picture of Kiehl's, on the corner of East 13th Street and Third Avenue (on the East Village side):

Kiehl's decorated for Christmas.

Kiehl's sells creams and lotions and shampoos — they're sort of an expensive version of Ricky's — which coincidentally enough, they're right next to!

Kiehl's and Ricky's, side-by-side.

They used to have a small museum inside this store, that people could browse through. I haven't been in in a while so I don't know if they still have it. Stop in and ask — they love to show it off!
