NYC Pizza Run

I was walking across East 7th Street this past Saturday, when I saw this truck-thing, parked at the corner of Avenue B, with orange cones:

Truck-thing with orange cones.

It's my guess that it belonged to the people who were sponsoring the New York City Pizza Run.

What's that? I didn't write about the New York City Pizza Run? Well, let's get started!

This past Saturday was the New York City Pizza Run, in the heart of the East Village, around the beautiful Tompkins Square Park!

The idea is: you run around the park and eat pizza — how fun is that?!

The pizza was provided by Pizza by Cer Té, not an East Village institution, but a purveyor of some fine pizza, by all accounts!

Here are some pictures of the event:

Lining up for free t-shirts inside the park.

Pizza-distribution models.

World's largest selfie stick.

No description of the festivities would be complete without a video of people running!

A great time was had by all… in the East Village Today!

Another Cool Truck

There's seems to be no end to cool trucks and vans in the East Village!

I saw this one this morning, while walking up First Avenue:

Another cool truck.

Keep on truckin'!

Taxis and Trucks Turning

While I'm transitioning from a still camera to video, I am seeing what works and what doesn't. This video should have been a few seconds longer!

Still, everything is genuinely East Village, like… taxis and trucks:

It's one thing to look at a picture of a taxi, even when not abstracted from its environment — it's quite another to watch the same taxi turn the corner… in the East Village Today!

Inside a Consolidated Edison Truck

I was walking across East 6th Street on my way home from work tonight, when I passed by this Consolidated Edison truck, where it looks like someone forgot to close the door:

Some kind of machinery or another inside, it looks like.

Yup.

Darn Fine Woodworking

I was walking across East 5th Street about 25 days ago, when I saw this:

Truck behind piece of fence.

What first caught my attention was the way the wood was cut to allow the truck door to open. Darn fine woodworking there!

Then I noticed that the fence put up to block access to the truck cab was only two section wide! Strange, no?

So what holds it in place, I wondered? Upon inspection, I discovered it:

Twister-tie holds truck mirror to fence.

What's the purpose of that fence, to begin with? Is the door to the truck unlocked?

East Villagers love fine woodworking!

Doritos Truck Spotted on Second Avenue

Yesterday, in a post about the brothel Horus, a Doritos truck was seen in the reflection of the picture.

Today, the same Doritos truck was on Second Avenue!
