Jewman

The East Village is full of graffiti — it's like modern-day cave drawings!

New graffitiers are always emerging. One of the most recent is Jewman, whose introduction I noticed while riding my Citibike across East 6th Street, just past the intersection with First Avenue, outside the beloved Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins amalgamation:

Jewman.

Welcome Jewman!

    1. I thought about that myself, but it has all the trappings of a graffiti "tag", as they call it in the business. Sill, I haven't seen any others since, so it's hard to say. You can be sure East Village Today will be keeping an eye out!

    2. Like you said - it could be someone expressing pride in their ethnicity. Whoever it is does get around - the EV, Ridgewood - who knows where else?

    3. To be honest, I didn't look at the link you posted until just now! I thought it was going to be swastikas or something unlike what I posted. I have a graffitier friend — I'll ask her if she knows anything about it.

    4. It is the same tag as what you posted. Interesting that is graffiti in one place and is interpreted differently elsewhere. It will be cool to finds out from your friend what is who.

    5. I asked Jodo on Instagram, and she said: "I think it's friends with moser" then gave the link to "moserology" on Instagram, then said: "Moser it's a tagged + studio artist".

    6. Thanks for following up, EVT! That is a tough tag. Someone may be expressing pride in their heritage, but then someone of the same heritage taking umbrage with it.
