Another Senseless Hawk Death

Here's another thing that happened while I was busy not posting—

Back in October, 2017, in a post called Against The Hawks, I wrote:
The Parks Department should trap the hawks and move them to the Adirondacks, where they belong.
Unfortunately, my words were not heeded, and now another senseless hawk death has occurred.

Here is a picture of the dead hawk, whose name was Mr. Hawk — or Hawky,
as he liked to be called:

Hawky, with googly eye.

What's next, wolverines?! If wolverines move into the park, are East Villagers just going to say "They're so helpful — they eat the rats!"

Rats respond to one thing only: poison. If we're going to get rid of the rats, we have to move the hawks, for their own safety.

This has been a public service announcement by East Village Today.

Rats > Frats

It's rare that graffitiers spray-paint public service announcements, but it's not unheard of!

Here is one example, seen on the side of a solar-powered trash can on the corner of Avenue A and East 7th Street:

Spray-painted PSA.

Rats are indeed a greater problem than frats — I don't think there even are frats in the East Village.

Unless F-Rats are a thing!

Bad Riot Gates

I was walking across East 6th Street, about eight days ago, when I saw this decrepit riot gate, half-way raised:

Decrepit riot gate.

Always make sure your riot gates are in good condition. What if, heaven forbid, there's another riot?! When the insurance company investigator comes, he'll notice that the riot gate was defective, and disallow your claim for property loss!

This has been a public service announcement from the National Association of Riot Gate Manufacturers, and the insurance industry.
