Lawn-Flamingo Window Box

Speaking of taking it with you, one of the greatest decorations in the history of lawns is the lawn flamingo — kitsch-wise, it's probably first!

While walking across East 4th Street recently, I saw this miniature lawn flamingo beside a flower box:

Miniature lawn flamingo.

"I just flew in from Florida, and boy are my wings tired!"

Isn't that a cool reflection in the window?

Sharpen the Contradictions

What do you suppose this window arrangement (on East 9th Street, if I'm not mistaken):

Flowers.

has to do with this one:

Dead plant.

The answer is: they reside together!

Dueling planters.

Sharpening the contradictions… in the East Village Today!

Jesse's Girl

If you were wondering what I was referring to in my post East Village Eye, it's this:

Krysten Ritter, on East 7th Street.

Krysten Ritter, the woman who played Jane Margolis, Jesse' Pinkman's girlfriend in "Breaking Bad", was on East 7th Street tonight shooting a new Netflix series called "A.K.A. Jessica Jones". To quote Syndrome: "Oh, man! I'm still geeking out about it!"

And what building did they choose to shoot in?

The building with the solitary, artificial, pink flowers in window boxes!

Do I have the eye?! Or do I have the eye?!

It almost seems unnecessary to say, but… nowhere is cooler then the East Village!

East Village Eye

Before I post tonight's main story, I have to say something. I am generally a humble person, but when something is true, it's true!

I have a knack for recognizing what's cool in the East Village!

There, I said it. Now I will explain.

Take a look at these two pictures, that I took on East 7th Street last month, but couldn't think of anything to say about them, other than how cool they were:

When I saw these, I recognized right away how cool they were — solitary, artificial, pink flowers in window boxes, one per box.

I have an eye for this — I should change the name of this blog to East Village Eye!

But it's all of us that make the East Village cool. I didn't put those flowers there, I just recognized them for what they were and took a picture of them.

You know what they say: "There is no I in Eye"!

Frontless, Windowless Window Box

I was walking across East 3rd Street this past Sunday, on my way over to The Bowery, when I happened upon this:

Frontless, windowless window box.

I know it's not exactly a window box — it's like a window box, but it's not in a window. And there's no front!

It's like nature, right here in the East Village! Right now we can study the frost layer; later we can watch the roots of plants grow; and finally, we can study erosion!

East Villagers love science projects!
