On inspection, I noticed that the toothbrush package had been opened, and one of the toothbrushes was missing:

Who buys a package of three toothbrushes when they only need one? If that's all the store had, they could have given one to a friend (two friends!) or even a stranger (two strangers!).
"Here, you look like you need to brush your teeth. Sorry I don't have any toothpaste."
