Spring Painting

I was walking across St. Mark's Place — oh, about three days ago — when I saw this bit of fresh paint covering the beloved billboard for Yaffa Cafe, outside the formerly-beloved Yaffa Cafe:

Fresh paint.

Hopefully, this is just primer — hopefully, they'll paint the bare spot spruce green. As long-time readers of this blog know, there's nothing like a bit of paint to spruce up the East Village!

Sprucing up with spruce green.

This recess has been the focus of great coolness for decades — hopefully it will remain so for decades to come… in the East Village Today, and Beyond!

  1. EVT, this has to be the greatest feat of photographic legerdemain ever! not only did you get the 'before' and 'after' photos, but you also managed to take the 'after' photo in the same spot, with the same shadows, things on the street, etc. as in the 'before' photo. everything matches, as far as i can tell, between the two photos, except that 'before' one has the white paint, and the 'after' shows it painted over. i don't know how you did it, but you did it! you, are amazing!

    I-)
