Cash Cod
A lot of people think that East Villagers are all artists, walking around with paint supplies in tow, looking for the nearest flat surface to decorate.
It's true! This wall on Avenue B and East 4th Street is an example:

I think that some (maybe most?) of the graffiti is based on how it sounds when pronounced. like 'cash cod' is a Bostonian pronunciation of 'cash card', and just rolls off the tongue so well.
