East Village Yesterday

As luck would have it, I forgot my camera at work, so I couldn't take any pictures today. Fortunately, I have a few pictures left over from previous expeditions!

This is a building on St. Mark's Place, called Deutsch-Amerikanische Schützen Gesellschaft:

Close-up.

At the top, it says Einigkeit Macht Stark:

…which means Unity Makes Strength (or Strength in Unity, depending on how you translate it).

If you want to read more about when the East Village was known as Little Germany, check this out.

Germans know how to take care of buildings… in the East Village!

    1. According to Google Translate, Schützen is "Protection".

Shooting is "Schießen" – so probably Schießende.
