Mystery Cable

Last week, I posted something about a gathering of orange cones in front of the 9th Street Haberdashery. In that picture, you may have noticed a cable of sorts running across the top, a quarter of the way down from the top. I almost mentioned, it but didn't.

Yesterday, I passed by this area again, and I discovered that the cable was put up to string Christmas lights!

I should have known! If the East Village is Whoville, East 9th Street is the Whoville town square!
