Alternate-Side Parking

This past Sunday, while on my picture-taking mission around the East Village, I happened onto this alternate take on alternate-side parking, on East 10th Street:

Alternate-side parking.

I probably should have taken a picture of the license plates — not to shame of harass the owners of this vehicle, but to show that they were diplomatic plates.

Which means they won't be towed, and if a cop writes them a ticket, it won't be paid, and the New York Post will publish another piece on diplomatic scofflaws as just another reason why the United Nations should be kicked out of New York City.

This is how the East Village is dragged into international affairs!
