The Wild Gardens of Houston Street

The community gardens are one of the greatest things in the East Village. There are so many, each one is somewhat different, and they're relaxing places to go. Plus, they were created out of rubble-strewn lots by the people who lived near them, which is extremely cool!

The gardens along Houston Street are wilder:

A Houston Street garden.

Like any decent barrier wall, they even have scarecrow-like figures to scare away intruders:

Defending the homeland.

Oases of coolness, amid gas stations and such!
